About play therapy

Play therapy uses a range of play techniques to help and support people to understand and express their thoughts and feelings. It is often used with children who are finding it difficult to explain how they are feeling about something that has happened to them, or how they feel about themselves or their environment.

Play therapy helps children and young people to communicate at their own pace, using play to help demonstrate or articulate something that is troubling them. This side-by-side, non-direct approach can help children and young people learn to cope with what they’re going through and to develop and build relationships with others. A more direct approach can be discussed and used when appropriate.

About me

As a qualified play therapist, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I offer children a safe space to understand their feelings and a confidential environment to explore their language of play.

Supervision and CPD

I work closely with a clinical supervisor, and, when necessary, with other outside agencies, such as social workers, GPs, schools, and local mental health professionals. I always consult with clients and work with them when advocating on their behalf to outside agencies. I follow the codes of ethics as set out by the BACP.
