What I offer
Child centred play therapy for children and young people in Bristol
Following initial introductory ‘get to know you’ meetings, I offer regular play therapy sessions that can take place in school (subject to agreement from school), or from my private therapy room in Bristol. Sessions can be booked in blocks of 12 and can take place at a frequency that is appropriate for you and your child. I offer private sessions and also work within the local authority framework to offer sessions via individual schools. We can discuss what is appropriate for you and your child in our introductory session.
Introductory session
During the introductory session, which is conducted without the child or young person present, we will find out whether we feel we can work together. You can tell me what your expectations/hopes and wishes are and how you like to work. This would be an opportunity to hear a little about your child's likes/dislikes and play style. I hope in this meeting you can feel comfortable sharing your concerns and hopeful outcomes. I can explain more about my fee structure and work out what our therapeutic relationship will look like. We will carry out an initial assessment and agree the times and frequency for the first block of therapy sessions. We can also arrange review meetings.
This introductory session can be done over the phone or by video call (Zoom), and is done without the child present.
First therapy session
During the first therapy session I will introduce myself to the child I will be working with and give them an opportunity to ask me questions and get to know me. This session will be completely child led and can last as long as the child needs to feel comfortable in my company and understand how our regular sessions will work in future.
Someone is required to wait outside the therapy space. There is parking available.
Fees
Each session lasts 45 minutes (with the exception of the first therapy session which may be shorter) and costs £60.00 per session. The child can go at a comfortable pace for them.
This includes any contact emails and review meetings, as well as preparation (pre and post) for individual sessions and play therapy kit.
I pride myself on continuing regular CPD and the most up-to-date ethical practices for you to get the best therapeutic relationship and experience. I pay for regular supervision once a month, as standard.
